  1. TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE & CHUNCHO CLAY LICK - 3 DAYS

    Español

Tambopata National Reserve is rich in biodiversity, there are more than 1,500 different species of butterflies and 650 species of birds, including the red-bellied macaw. The Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick is a unique experience, where hundreds of brightly colored macaws, parrots and parakeets fly to the cliffs to eat clay. The clay of the Chuncho clay lick is rich in salts and minerals that help these birds to eliminate toxins due to their diet based on fruits and seeds. Within Tambopata National Reserve is the famous Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, which is an unmissable spectacle. This is the largest clay lick in the world, a paradise for bird lovers and is one of our exclusive services, a program designed to offer you the best and most beautiful of the Tambopata National Reserve.

The rainforest of the Tambopata National Reserve is home to "Ese Eja", a native community that has been living there for decades. Palma Real, Sonene and Infierno are three Ese Eja communities, and their main source of income comes from fishing, agriculture and hunting. Little by little they have now begun to participate in tourist activities. At Peru Amazonico tours, we employ Ese Ejas as boatmen and chefs, giving them the opportunity to become familiar with the world outside of the Amazon jungle.

    WHY PERU AMAZONICO TOURS?

We are a locally owned Amazon Jungle Tour Operator. Through each reserve we contribute to native and local communities to protect endangered habitats in the Peruvian Amazon. We also provide employment opportunities to local residents. Most of our tour guides are locals or natives to the communities of the Tambopata National Reserve.
