  1. INKA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU - 4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS

    Español

The Inca Trail to Machupicchu consists of more than 40 kilometers of rocky paved trails that challenge abysses and cross dense forests. Capac Ñan the Incas called the winding and thin roads (their width ranges between 0.70 and 2.50 m.) that they traced in all corners of their vast empire. The best time to do the Inca Trail to Machupicchu is during the dry season, that is, between May and September; This does not mean that there are no rains or drizzles, they are unpredictable at any time of the year. The annual minimum temperature oscillates between 8 and 11°C. In the months of June, July and August the temperature often reaches below zero. The annual maximum temperature varies from 20 to 26°C. The geographical conformation of its soil is very rugged, with numerous ravines and water courses of glacial origin, tributaries of the Urubamba River that crosses the area, forming a deep valley that penetrates through the granite batholith of Vilcabamba in a succession of different ecological levels. .

AVAILABILITY FOR INKA TRAIL TO MACHUPICCHU - 4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS

We organize tours to Machupicchu through the classic Inca Trail from March to January. Our recommended fixed departures are from April to October, before and after those months it is considered the heavy rainy season. To make the Inca Trail to Machupicchu, we have a strict limit of visitors that we can take to this magnificent place, the number of people who can walk the Inca Trail is 500 people per day. Bearing in mind that more than half of this number are workers (guides, porters and cooks). Knowing all this, we recommend booking it well in advance (6 months).

    ITINERARY:

    DAY 01 (CUSCO - PISCACUCHO - PATALLAQTA - WAYLLABAMBA):

Our trek to Machupicchu through the classic Inca trail begins at your hotel, we will pick you up from there between 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. after this and with the guide, we will be transferred for around 2 or 2.5 hours to Piscacucho (km 82), our starting point. In Piscacucho there is also the first checkpoint where we will present all our documents (Inca Trail permit and your original passport) to allow us to officially enter in the Inca Trail to Machupicchu. After the checkpoint, we will begin our walk for approximately 2 hours to Miskay, where our team (porters and cooks) awaits us with a good lunch. This part of the walk is almost flat and with a beautiful landscape (we will enjoy the incredible flora, fauna and landscapes). After Miskay, we will walk for another 2 hours until we reach Wayllabamba (3,000 masl), which is also our camp. Before Wayllabamba we will enjoy the interesting archaeological site of Patallaqta. We will arrive at our camp around 5:00 pm; and there we will enjoy a good dinner. Enjoy the night…

    DAY 02 (WAYLLABAMBA - WARMIWAÑUSCA - PACAYMAYO):

This day they wake us up early (5:30 a.m.) with a hot coca tea, after this we prepare ourselves for breakfast (6:00 a.m.). The first part of our trek begins at 6:30 a.m. and it will take us around 5 hours (7 km) to reach the highest point of our trip that is known as the Dead Woman Pass or Warmiwañusca (4,200 masl ), this part is considered the most challenging of our trip.

From Wayllabamba, take the trail following the right bank of the Llullucha stream; there the longest ascent of the route is undertaken. We will arrive at Tres Piedras Blancas, which is an appropriate space to rest, on the edge of the Wayruro stream; From this area and upwards is what is called Montane Humid Forest, characterized by the abundance of Intimpa or Romerillo (Podocarpus glomeratus), Q'euña (Polylepis incana) trees, etc. At the end of the forest you arrive at Llulluchapampa, which is another place to rest (3,660 masl - 12,000 ft.); The temperatures here are usually low because it is the beginning of the High-Andean Zone, simply known as Puna, with an abundance of native grasses (paja brava, Stipa ichu). Continuing with the ascent we arrive at the highest point of the walk the Warmiwañuska Pass.

From the Warmiwañuska pass, a 2-hour descent begins along a rough path where the gradual formation of a stream is observed, which at the bottom of the valley is called Pacaymayo (Pacamayu: hidden river 3,600 masl. - 11,800 ft.); after 7 hours of walking we will enjoy our lunch. In the camp we will rest all afternoon and around 6.30 we will enjoy a good dinner. This place is a bit cold. Good night…

    DAY 03 (PACAYMAYO - RUNKURAKAY - SAYACMARKA - PHUYUPATAMARKA - WIÑAYHUAYNA):

We get up at 6:00 am. And then we will enjoy our breakfast at 6:30 am. At 7:00 am. We will start our walk. This is a special and beautiful day, where along the trail we will visit 3 Inca sites. The first one is "Runkurakay" (3,800 masl.), one hour walk from our camp, after this Inca site we have to continue climbing for an hour until we reach the second highest point, the Runkurakay Pass (4,000 masl.); After the pass and descending for 45 minutes, we will arrive at Sayacmarka (3,580 masl.). After visiting Sayacmarka, we walked for 25 minutes. to Chakicoccha (3,600 masl.) where we will enjoy a delicious lunch, and enjoying the incredible landscape.

After a one hour walk from Chakicoccha, we will arrive at Phuyupatamarka (3,600 masl.) where we can find Inca buildings. From this place we will continue descending for two hours of walking to Wiñayhuayna (2,600 masl), which is also the area of our last camp. Then we will enjoy a good buffet for dinner so that we can say goodbye to part of our team (cooks and porters). If we still have energy, we can visit the Wiñayhuayna archaeological site, just 5 minutes from our camp (we recommend this visit), a different Inca site with many terraces and buildings. Good night…
